JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SPRINGFIELD ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS FOR 2009-2010 LEAGUE YEAR
SPRINGFIELD, MO, July 24, 2009 - Andrea McKinney has been elected as President of the Junior League of Springfield for the 2009-2010 League year. Andrea epitomizes the mission of the Junior League of Springfield and has been an active volunteer in the Springfield community for many years, including 13 years as a member of the Junior League of Springfield.
"The vision of the Junior League is for women around the world to be catalysts for lasting community change. Over the last 50 years, that vision has become a reality through the Junior League of Springfield's projects which include Isabel's House, the Discovery Center and Leadership Springfield. I enjoy volunteering in the League because of the leadership training and the chance to connect with other women to impact the community," said Andrea.
Andrea also serves on the Isabel's House and Springfield-Greene County Park Boards. She is a Senior Vice President with OakStar Bank and attended Greenwood Laboratory School, the University of Kansas and received an MBA from Missouri State University.
The outstanding women who make up the remainder of the Junior League Executive Board are: Lynn Tynes, President Elect; Dot Atkinson, Vice President of Finance; Meghan Sponenberg, Vice President of Community; Michele Risdal Barnes, Recording Secretary; Pam Leggett-Lutes, Vice President of Membership; and Nicole Norton, Vice President of Communication.
This leadership will continue to guide the women of the Junior League into the community to make Springfield a better place to live. Over the past 50 years the Junior League of Springfield has been the founding agency for many projects with their most recent project celebrating its two year anniversary, Isabel's House, the Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks.
The Junior League of Springfield is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Springfield reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism.
Since 1959, the Junior League of Springfield has contributed over $4 Million Dollars and more than 1.25 million hours of volunteer service to the Springfield community. The JLS is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action of trained volunteers.
