- A crisis nursery is a respite crisis care emergency shelter which
protects children by providing a safe environment at a time when the
chances of abuse/neglect in the home are increased. Parents voluntarily
request and arrange this service directly with the crisis nursery.
- All parents are encouraged to utilize a range of support, counseling
and referral services based on the crisis they are facing.
- A crisis nursery is a proven child abuse prevention tool, and a
recognized community need.
- Nursery is established for those needing assistance due to life
emergency (not for sick children who can't attend regular daycare). Must
be dedicated to the at-risk child
- Temporary respite care is provided for no longer than 30 days, 24/7
operation
- Children birth to 12 years of age would be served
- Must be a community collaborative with primary partners who lend
funding assistance and in-kind services; and secondary partners with whom
we will collaborate to deliver needed services to the families
- Support to families for long-term strength and stability of family
unit is a critical component, as well as immediate respite care
