Charity Horse Show to Benefit Development of a Local Crisis Nursery
(Springfield, MO) The Junior League of Springfield (JLS) will host its
second annual Charity Horse Show June 1-4, 2006. This highly
competitive event, held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, will benefit the
development of a local crisis nursery. The show will feature five breeds of
horses: American Saddlebreds, Arabians, National Show Horses, Half Arabians,
and Tennessee Walking Horses. Exhibitors of different ages and abilities
will compete in different divisions for blue ribbons and the treasured rose
garlands that are a signature of this show.
After an eight-year hiatus, JLS adopted the beloved Charity Horse Show as
a fundraiser to support projects with a focus on child abuse and neglect
prevention. Last year exhibitors from eight states and well over one
thousand audience members came to welcome back the show. JLS received
national recognition and heartfelt thanks from so many in the community who
had missed the unique event.
The Junior League Charity Horse Show runs June 1-4. Each day features
morning and evening show sessions, with championship classes on Saturday
night and a hunter-jumper exhibition on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are $5.00
at the door and all are welcome. For more information, contact JLS at
www.jlspringfield.org or by phone at 417-887-9422.
Since 1959, the Junior League of Springfield has contributed over $2.3
million and more than 1.2 million hours of volunteer service to the
Springfield community. The Junior League of Springfield is an organization
of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of
women and improving the community through the effective action of trained
volunteers. Its purposes are exclusively educational and charitable.
