Emily Hertzog

Fall Home Tour, Assistant Chair

JLS History:

I joined JLS in 2019 and served on the Plaid Door committee. This year I’m the Assistant Chair of Fall Home Tour. I’m also on the Diversity and Inclusion task force.

Why You Joined JLS:

I’m from Springfield. I grew up here and went to Glendale High School and Missouri State University. I joined JLS because I wanted to get more involved in the Springfield community I love so much.

Favorite JLS event:

Know Your City Tour has been my favorite event so far. Visiting important places in Springfield I’d previously only driven by, and learning about Springfield’s history and the League’s role in that history was inspiring! I love that I’m still learning new things about the city I was born in. It’s an amazing place.

Life Outside the League:

I’m married to Alex Hertzog, and we have four children who keep us quite busy. For work, I teach English as a Second Language, which is as fun as it is fulfilling. I sing in the Springfield Chamber Chorus. Outside of work, volunteering, and singing, I love to attend my kids’ concerts and games and try new restaurants with my husband. I’m also a huge Cardinals baseball fan!

Fun Fact:

I have a great memory, especially when it comes to numbers and quotes. I can quote The Office and Friends so well that I should probably be entering trivia contests!
