Millie Schuchmann

Management Director – Elect

JLS History:

I joined Junior League in 2016, and my first committee was Education & Development. I chaired that committee in 2018-19, and then became Manager of Membership-Elect in 2019-20.

Why You Joined JLS:

I joined JLS because I was so impressed with the Junior League’s history of making things happen for our community with projects like the Discovery Center and Boys and Girls Club. I was especially impressed by JLS’s work on child abuse & neglect and Isabel’s House. I was looking for a way to connect with ambitious women with big goals and to make our community better, and I have found that and more in JLS!

Favorite JLS Event:

I love working Plaid Door sale days! It’s so fun to work the register and celebrate our customers’ awesome finds with them. Of course, I am fond of JLS training events, and I always look forward to the holiday party and our annual meeting.

Favorite JLS Memory:

So many! I look back at my JLS orientation as a Provisional, and I’m so thankful for that experience. Not only did it help me begin to realize how I can be a leader, but I also met one of my best friends (Hi Emily!) that same day because we both arrived early! This spring, our paint night with Gavyn Sky was a blast too, and every time I look at the art I created that night, I get to remember how fun it was!

Life Outside the League:

I am a nonprofit professional with 6 years of experience in nonprofit fund development. I am the Development Associate at Harmony House, so I get to plan major fundraisers including The Purple Party and iCare, along with some grant writing, and donor relations. I love getting to see the impact my colleagues make for domestic violence survivors on a daily basis, and feel so lucky to be part of this team! I’m also a member and past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Ozarks Region Chapter, and the secretary for Southwest Missouri Grant Writers.

Outside of work and volunteering, I have been married for four years to my wonderful husband, Eric. We love spoiling our rescue Dachshund, Coco, and trying new restaurants anywhere we go. I listen to a lot (A LOT) of podcasts and audiobooks, and am always looking to learn new things.

Fun Fact:

I once was a paranormal investigator. I’ve investigated several local well-known sites, private residences, and even a few sites in other parts of Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois. I’m always open to talk ghost stories!
